About the exam

EAPCET is conducted separately by Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, each through a state university on behalf of its State Council of Higher Education. The exams are commonly still called EAMCET, their older name.

MPC students take the Engineering stream for B.Tech/B.E. and related courses. BiPC students take the Agriculture & Pharmacy stream for courses such as B.Pharm, Pharm.D, B.Sc Agriculture, B.Sc Horticulture, B.V.Sc and others, depending on the year's rules. MPC students can also access B.Pharm through the Engineering stream.

• Students appearing for Class 12 in the exam year can usually apply

Exam pattern

Syllabus overview

The syllabus follows the Intermediate first- and second-year curriculum of the respective state board. Students from other boards should compare syllabi, as coverage differs from CBSE in places.

With no negative marking in recent years, attempting every question is usually sensible — but accuracy under time pressure still decides ranks.

EAPCET ranks are used for admission to state university colleges and affiliated private colleges in engineering, pharmacy and agriculture-related programmes. Some deemed and private universities also accept EAPCET ranks alongside their own tests.

How the process usually works

1. Apply onlineRegister within the dates in the state notification, choosing the correct stream.
2. Take the examExams are held over several days in multiple sessions; scores are normalised across sessions.
3. Rank cardRanks are published after the answer key and objection process.
4. Certificate verificationComplete document verification online or at help-line centres, as notified.
5. Web optionsEnter college and branch choices in order of preference.
6. Seat allotment and reportingSeats are allotted in rounds; report to the college and pay fees within the deadline.

How to prepare

1. Cover the Intermediate syllabus thoroughlyEAPCET closely follows the state board syllabus; board preparation and EAPCET preparation reinforce each other.
2. Build speedMany questions must be answered in a short time. Timed practice with previous papers is essential.
3. Prioritise the largest sectionMathematics (Engineering) or Biology (Agriculture & Pharmacy) carries the most marks.
4. Take mock tests in the computer-based formatBecome familiar with the interface and question navigation.

After the result

In web counselling, the order of your options matters. Research colleges on faculty, labs, accreditation, placements, location and fees — not just on the branch name. Consider fee reimbursement or scholarship schemes you may be eligible for.

Keep other options open in parallel, such as JoSAA (through JEE Main), private university tests and B.Sc routes.
